According to Skippy, lots of potentially contaminated peanut butter were sent to 18 states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. Hormel Foods, which owns Skippy, stresses that no other varieties or dates of Skippy products are included in this recall. After internal detection systems at Skippy’s manufacturing plant identified the potential problem, the company issued the recall out of an abundance of caution and to alert consumers to the possible hazard. To date, no consumers have filed complaints connected to these products, and stores selling the peanut butter have been notified. If you find that you have bought one of the products under recall, you should return it to the place of purchase for an exchange, or call Skippy Foods Consumer Engagement at 866-475-4779, or visit Skippy’s website for instructions and information. The Consumer Engagement team is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT.
